For your information, the Global Citizen Award is an annual event held by the Atlantic Council on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in New York. In the event held on September 19, 2022, Minister of Foreign Affairs Retno Marsudi was present in person to represent President Jokowi to receive the award.
A number of world figures have also received the award because they are considered to have made a real contribution to the world. Among them are the late Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, former South Korean President Moon Jae-in, and Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte.
In addition to President Jokowi, the Global Citizen Award in 2022 was also awarded to Finnish President Sauli Niinistö, Swedish Prime Minister Magdalena Andersson, Google and Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai, and actor and UNESCO Special Envoy for Peace and Reconciliation Forest Whittaker.
Also present at the event were Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, Minister of Defense Prabowo Subianto, Minister of SOEs Erick Thohir, and Minister of State Secretary Pratikno. (Un/Tp)
